Boron Kids Outreach Program Starts Summer Events – Mojave Desert News : School

By Patti Orr

Boron – The Boron Kids Outreach Program started their summer activities with a free field kick-off day on Saturday June 9, 2012. The event started at 1 p.m. and was held at the Boron Community Park on John Street in Boron. Approximately 150 kids registered for the first free field day of the summer, which included free hot dogs, hamburgers, snow cones, bottled water, and watermelon all of which was donated by local businesses and residents.

The activities for the day included three on three basketballs, a bounce house obstacle course, and a regular bounce house for smaller kids, face painting, volleyball, relay races, and a wet washrag face toss.

Mike Howard, founder of the program started the day with a little pep talk to all the kids then he told them there is only one rule – RESPECT…..(Read the rest of the article here: Boron Kids Outreach Program Starts Summer Events – Mojave Desert News : School.

2nd Annual BKOP Field Day Another Success!

The Boron Kids Outreach Program 2nd Annual Field Day was another successful event. Almost 200 kids came out to play and eat, to start the summer time off right! There were two bounce houses, relay races, tossing games, parachute games, 3 on 3 basketball, volley ball, and face painting. Kern County Search and Rescue cooked up hot dogs and hamburgers which were served with chips, watermelon, and snow cones! All of this was provided to the kids for FREE!

This is yet another example of what can be done when the members of our community come together with local business to serve our kids!
